Jhardhel's Changeling Character Generator

...I made a Changeling Character Generator in JavaScript!

Notes:

  1. Works in IE5, Navigator 4.7, and Navigator 6! I CANNOT predict this generator's behavior in any browser except these three!
  2. The generator is fully interactive, meaning you may specify, change, remove, and/or add each element of the character.
  3. You must specify which books you want to use for the character - the default is just Changeling 2nd Edition (or the minimum/base book for each type of Changeling). There is an option to select all books.
  4. If you specify a name of an Ability, Background and/or Art, set its level to at least 1. If you specify a Merit and/or Flaw, you must specify the point value of the Merit/Flaw as well.
  5. You may specify a minimum level for any item, but not a maximum. The closest to this function would be to set a category as Secondary or Tertiary.
  6. However, you may set a maximum on the points of Merits and/or Flaws you want. Just change the appropriate "Maximum Amount" box.
  7. There is no spell-checking on the generator, so if you spell the Knowledge "Greymayre," you may end up with another Knowledge "Gremayre."
  8. I've tried to minimize the "duh" factor on the generator, but I can't and won't cover all possibilities. E.g.: if the character has the merit "Voice of a Songbird," it won't simultaneously have the flaw "Mute." However, some unusual (but workable) combinations may still result.
  9. Also, I have cut out a few "impossible" Merits/Flaws/Backgrounds the different character types (such as Infamous Mentor for Adhene), but I've left most of the material in. I have included most adjustments due to Frailties and Merits/Flaws, but not any Birthrights - this generator is not meant to replace any sourcebooks - in fact, it's meant to stimulate your interest in finding and buying the rest of them.
  10. Thanks to the interaction of the Form HTML element with JavaScript, I know of no way to save a generated character on the "Form" page. However, the "Write" button will open a new window with a character page suitable for saving or printing on one page.
  11. The generator will NOT give you enough info to play the game, even just from sourcebooks you don't have. All it gives is names of items and levels, not info on what the names mean. If you want to use a book, GO BUY IT! (That is, if you can find some of the out-of-print ones.)
  12. Additional Navigator note: even though you may be able to make entries in the "Total" fields, the generator ignores these and calculates them based on the Base and Freebie fields. Go Navigator!
  13. PLEASE let me know what you think of the generator - drop me an email!"
